We've received so many inquiries from families who wanted a little bit extra in their beach vacation, specifically better access to fishing waters, boating adventures, windsurfing locales and the like. Our new Matanzas home is the answer! Pool, hot tub, boat dock, huge yard, sun room, dining room, screened in outdoor patio, play gym for the kids . . . just trust me when I say that this house has it all!!
All renters interested in this home need to realize that this subdivision is a family residential area and we want to be very, VERY careful about the quality and size of the groups that rent from us. Spring Break groups, high-school vacations, and all manner of non-family rentals are strictly prohibited. Misleading us to believe otherwise results in immediate eviction and forfeiture of both the balance paid and the deposit (as we are fined heavily and have families to support as well ^_^).
It's a wonderful home for a long vacation, a luxurious conference center, or just a comfortable and fun home-away-from-home for a big family. Tons of room with direct boat access to the Intracoastal waterway (and the ocean if you like). It has the largest yard of all our properties as well. It features plenty of room for pick-up games and those yummy summer cook-outs!
Of course one of the biggest perks is the private boat dock. Perfect for a small fishing expedition or just taking a "drive" along the gorgeous Intracoastal waterway. Renters will notice that our trawler is tied to one side of the dock at the moment, but there's still plenty of room for another! Windsurf in the waterway, or the ocean if you are truly gifted.
Take a tour to the military fort, Fort Matanzas (ah-ha, thus the name of the property for those wondering . . .), that the Spanish successfully held against the French for over one hundred years. In fact, you're so close to this historic National Monument, you could even row there if you were so inclined. Definitely take in a carriage ride through the cobblestone streets of the old city.
Unfortunately, you just can't have boat and beachfront access in the same home (unless, of course, you own your own private island--but then you wouldn't be reading this in the first place), but it's only a 5-7 minute walk to the sand. And what a beach it is! Since you're right at the Northern tip of the Matanzas Inlet, you're far enough away from the nearest car access to turn this beach into a particularly solitary stretch of sand. Play football or Frisbee on the beach, sneak off into the dunes with a wide beach towel and a nice (plastic) bottle of your favorite beverage, all without the hassle of tons of other vacationers.
This 2000 sq. foot home comes with plenty of living space, private pool, hot-tub, hammock, and tons of extra yard space.
Like all our properties, full amenities are always included (full kitchen, high-speed wireless internet access, unlimited free local, state, and national calls [and international available on request], entertainment, linens, towels, washer/dryer, etc...). Oh, the author of this page is salivating for his next vacation as we speak!

Home Information at a glance:
General Property Specifications: Single floor home, private boat dock, private pool (sorry, this pool is just too big for us to heat!), private hot-tub, screened-in outdoor patio, sun room, great room, spacious yard, grill, DVD/VCR, free high-speed wireless internet access, unlimited free local, state, and national calls [and international available on request], 2000 sq. feet.
Beds: Master - King / 2nd bedroom - Queen / 3rd bedroom - two twins / Additional - two love seats that can sleep a small child. The great room is off to one side of the home out of the way and perfect for extra sleeping space.
Pool and Hot-tub situation: Private pool (one of the biggest we own!), private in-ground and adjoining hot-tub.
Distance to Beach: In most of our homes we shy away from oceanfront properties because of their expense (double the mortgage means double the rental price, unfortunately). This home does require you to cross A1A, but the beach you get with this home is well worth the extra minute's walk (5-7 minute walk to the surf tops). Because you're at the very tip of the island (just below Matanzas Inlet), there's no practical way for locals to drive onto "your" beach because the closest beach access ramp is far to the south of you. So you'll find the one of the most spacious, cleanest, and least busy beaches around! If you want to visit the North stretch of beach (the one that wraps around the inlet), you will need to climb down the rocks bordering the road. There's another beach at the end of Old A1A, however, where you can walk right onto the sand. That beach adds another 400 yards onto your walk, but there's plenty of parking there as well if you'd like to just load up the clan and take a quick drive there. Furry Friends?: This home is pet-friendly! I have four kitty-catos myself, so I know your pets are very likely just part of the family! As such, we wouldn't think of charging extra. We don't charge for "extra" for kids, parents-in-laws, or Uncle Phil, so why pets? We do charge an extra 50% deposit (i.e. $750 on the homes or $450 on the condos/townhomes), but this all comes back to you if the house is left in the same condition in which you found it. Beware, though, that a pet problem is one of the three times we've ever kept someone's deposit (the other two were smoking in the house and general spring break destruction). Wet-dog smell can be very difficult to remove! Rates: At Hartley and Sons, all our properties have a standard winter and summer rate. But we also offer savings and charge a premium for various times of the year depending on our usual traffic. We take pride in our transparency of our rates. All the properties have a single rent price, a cleaning fee, 6% sales tax and 4% tourism tax added onto the total.
